You may be coming from Tosca Reno’s Blog (Eat Clean Diet!!) and I have a special quick message for you!
It’s funny that the older I get, the more I begin to feel this deep kindred connection to certain people.
Many of you may not know me. I have worked very hard over the past few years to develop a successful brand, called LettuceLove Cafe (an organic, whole-food, vegan cafe) and Kelly’s Bake Shoppe. (an organic Gluten-Free Vegan Bakery) and to also begin to brand myself (Kelly Childs) to be someone that is at the forefront of this healthy and organic, whole-food, plant-based, clean eating empowerment wave that is sweeping across the planet. A wave of enlightenment, love, taking control of your life, be the best you can be by eating REAL food, eliminate chronic diseases, get back to natural living, practice eating more veggies, use only organic, get rid of processed foods, clean out your cupboards, love your life, Love your family, love your husband (or significant other), and most importantly: love YOURSELF.
Tosca Reno is one of these people I have connected with. Doesn’t she look FANTASTIC!?! We are both about the same age (give or take a couple of years). We both love weight training. We both love empowering people. We both love and encourage optimal health. We both EAT CLEAN!! We love cooking and creating in the kitchen. We both were inspired by Robert Kennedy in the fitness world (me, through his muscle magazines in the 1980’s and Tosca happened to marry the man!) and funny enough, we both married the love of our lives the second time around…..that second marriage for each of us was pivotal for our current lives and subsequently helped us find our own personal passion and launched each of us in a whole new career direction.
This “connection to certain people” I spoke of earlier happened on whim at the end of March, of this year, when I spoke to Tosca on the phone. We discussed life and Eating Clean and casually introduced ourselves to each other. Tosca then broke the news to me that Bob was very sick with cancer and it didn’t look good. I was devastated to hear that news and I could only imagine how Tosca felt. How do you come to terms with the fact that you are about to lose the love of your life? To say the least, I really felt this well of darkness and sadness run it’s course through my body. It hit so close to home because I couldn’t ever imagine losing my Ken right now at this stage of my life (or anytime for that matter) and our life together. I felt so bad for her.
As most of us now know, Tosca’s husband, “Bob Tough Love Kennedy“, as he is so fondly referred to, sadly passed away on the 12th of April, 2012. He bravely and quickly lost his battle with cancer. What has transpired since then is nothing short of incredible. Tosca Reno and her girls, over the past 2 weeks, rose to new heights and revealed their incredible strength and utmost class and showered her late husband with love, memories and beautiful funeral. I still don’t know how they did it.
And now, I feel even more connected to this beautiful person.
This is our circle of life and Tosca’s line is, “Sharing is Caring”. I believe this and agree with it wholeheartedly. For some of you, you may not know the hours, days, weeks, months it may take to design websites, write posts for our blogs, create new and healthy recipes, do the photos, upload videos, share new living ideas, share nutrition tips, and share the love. We do it freely… with love and because it makes us happy.
